There are three axis of Gnostic teachings on transformation:
- Psychological dissolution
- Spiritual birth
- Loving sacrifice for humanity
Psychological dissolution
Gnostic teachings believe that the go is the source of blockage for the process of transformation, and also causes ignorance and suffering. Gnosis tries to transform and eliminate the limitations of the ego. Involves:
- self-awareness and self-awakening
- understanding the origin of emotional reactions
- self-analysis through meditation
- self-investigation with meditation
- giving up psychological defects, habits, ill will, negativity
Spiritual birth
Gnosis is believed to release trapped spiritual energies, and proper channeling of these energies will develop spiritual abilities.
Loving sacrifice for humanity
Love and caring for others causes spiritual growth, according to gnostic teachings. The need to give, from having received, is called "The Law of Equilibrium".
