Spoke with Shariff 10/19/2005
Enterprise level SDK - multithreading - $1499 1 server
Adsense banner - works like background image in coloring in IE. Two things - A print driver technology, uses IE print objects. Default printing is to turn off background printing. Should select background color printing.
Live links in output pdf - hyperlinks
Page a points to page b, if both are put in a single PDF
It is a print driver type product - Can not convert a file format without the native app on the machine. So for this to be used to convert excel files, MS Excel must be on the server.
Call to Abbyy technicians about Abbyy FineReader?Create|Search 8.0 OCR software
Called them at 1-510-226-6717 about 400x400 grayscale scans taking 1.8gb of ram when trying to save as a PDF with images under PDF. The memory is not wasted all at once, but it increases as each page is processed. For the first few pages, the memory usage is under 600MB, but by the 11th or 12th page, the ram usage is up to 1.6GB.
Technician suggests scanning at a lower DPI (like 300x300) or trying black and white scanning.
I suggest trying the 200 page batch with Abbyy Finereader 6.0, that never showed a bug like this.
DPI or gray scale doesn't matter here. Don't use the new "Enable Tagged PDF" option on PDF files more than a few pages in length or you'll run out of memory.
Asked about new automation wizard in Finereader 8.0. Can it automate the process of picking PDF files one by one from a subdirectory, OCRing them individually, and then saving the results as a new PDF that includes text under the image. Note that I don't want the PDFs combined into one image, and I want it to automatically process each of the PDFs separately. The technician said that it could, all the options to control this would be selected in the automation wizard
