Guests On The Michael Savage Show
This guest was on the Michael Savage Show on April 9 2004 . This was an Encore broadcast of the Savage Nation.
Michael has a guest named Phil, who is a real warrior, a modest individual
- According to the guest, we are under a threat that is something different than our other threats. This is an ideological and religious opponent. Bin Laden said this war began in 1924, which was when Attaturk freed Turkey from fundamentalist rule.... The other conflicts around the world are fundamentally driven by militant islam. This is directly analogous to the tet offensive in 1968. The guest was there in 1968. The enemy rose up, and came out of the woodwork, we had the chance to permanently ruin them. It took five years for them to mount another big battle. The problem was that a guy named Walter Cronkite showed up and his evaluation was that America had turned the corner and could not win the war.
- This gutted the army, Jimmy Carter's Army was a pathetic instrument. IF the same thing is done to our military today, we are finished as a military force, and as a nation can who defend itself. By "them" I mean those inside our political system who are a great threat because of the wrong decisions they are trying to make. The result of the wrong decision could be millions of American's dead. If there is a change of control in November, and a lack of resolve or a withdrawal from the middle east, it will embolden them to take war to our shores. They only 4 airplanes. The next thing could be a nuclear weapon.
- Michael asks about the ACLU, the greatest threat to the American government. They are suing over the no-fly list.
- The ACLU was founded in the aftermath of the deportation of the radical anarchists and communists in the 1920's.
- Michael would dismember the ACLU. It is a very dangerous day in America, there is a lot of fighting in Iraq. The enemy within this country continues to undermine and cut the legs out from under the military.
Michael Savage remarks that the liberals like to define Iraq offensive as a Vietnam war
- We didn't have the political resolve to do things like the Tet Offensive and take control.
- Now we are in a grave national crisis. Phil still has the greatest
- Iraw was the fastest take down of a mechanized military in the history of warfare.
- In the protracted occupation, it is very different militarily. It is a test of our national resolve. The answer here is steel and fire, and taking it to the enemy fast, and brutally. It has to be a judicious approach, identify the areas and the people giving the biggest problem, and erase them.
Michael asks about the the shiites who are now turning on us. Why is that? Does Iraq have chinese or russian backing?
- No they don't have that. Lyndon Johnson was worried about sucking in the Chinese into the Vietnamese war.
- Iraq is surrounded by Syria and Iran, axis of terror.
There is a big military operation to try and take care of the problem in Fallujah.
- I am not on the ground, and am not going to second guess the commanders.
- We are being hit in multiple places to test our resolve. Our soldiers, marines, and airmen are doing the job that they are trained to do. It is regretable to loose our men, but they are soldiers, and they are in Iraq for a reason.
Switching to the domestic political front. George Bush got us into this war, and he has been criticized for the lack of finding the WMD (weapons of mass destruction.) Without blaiming President Bush too much, he has put his name on the line. The military takedown was brilliant, but the occupation is a problem.
- In an election year, with the greatest power in the world up for grabs, all the stops are being pulled out. The amount of extremes and propoganda agains the war effort from the senior senator from Massachusettes, helps embolden the enemy, and endangers our people. It results in greater casualties on the battle field because it gives our enemies resolve.
Vietnam was primarily a democrat war, but it was Nixon who got us out of the war.
How do we get out of Iraq to get out with dignity. Bush wants out of Iraq by June. How can we do that? It will fall into the hands of the very people who we didn't want to get their hands on Iraq.
- There is probably no way to make withdrawal at this time. We are turning over to the government,
- John McCain?Create thinks we will be there for many years.
- The military concept was a "spoiling attack"
- It does the enemy tremendous damage when in the middle of preparing something, you deal him heavy damage.
- We need to project our capability to project power into that area.
- We destablised the area, and it had results that couldn't be predicted.
- Rollover of Libya, helpfulness of Pakistan. No one could have predicted these things.
- The Iraq's need a shot at governing themselves, but we, as did Romans, need to step in as an occupying power if they can't do it on their own.
Do we need to majorly devastate an area of Iraq?
- We need to take out leadership and military resistance, and smash it.
- A bunch of Saadam's military apparatus melted away into the population, instead of being rounded up as POWs.
- When Patten's Third Army went through Europe, it rounded up these kinds of people.
It took 400,000 Russians to die to crush the remnants of the Nazi party.
- For 18-24 months after German surrender, there were pockets of resistance who continued to blow up and kill Americans.
- These were the wereworlfs. What was done with them? They were captured and shot in front of firing squads.
This hasn't been done yet in Iraq? Is this the failure of new "kinder gentler army"?
There is no way an invisible commander in chief can run as a great commander in chief.
- 57% - 60% America believes we went into Iraq for the right reason.
- Bush needs to talk to us and ask us for our resolve, we will be in Iraq for a while.
