Art was complaining about how shipping material dust gets into the displays of Icom equipment when it is being shipped. A picture with a flash of the radio when it is off really shows off the dust. The icom representative wrote back a really long email with all kinds of steps to fix the problem. "In order to clean the front panel of your Pro2".. The flash illuminated every little speck of dust. "That display didn't look like that when it was here. It has double stick on tape. You must remove the front panel from the chasis, and you must remove all the front knobs. Then unsolder the signal meter, then disconnect 3 flex connects. You must remove the knobs. Now the somewhat hard part is to slide the glass over 6 clips, I use 3 small screw drivers. Now the front panel is separated, and can be cleaned. Assembly is the reverse. It only take a few minutes to do this. Oh yeah, you must remove the panel, audio cables, and several scews...." It's very difficult to get in to fix the problem.
Several people suggested it would be easier to buy a new radio. Art wrote back, and said "Thanks, I think I'll leave it just like it is."
