I was sorry to read this morning about the closing of the AndStuffWiki?Create, but I want to offer everyone, who needs one, a new Wiki home at http://www.chat11.com

I read Scotts comments about the gospel and wiki, and I am also intrigued with how to use computers for spreading the Gospel. I've been writing various Bible research softwares for over 16 years, ever since I got my first copy of KJV Bible in ASCII text format.

Recently, I have been working a lot on http://www.mybiblecenter.com to try to setup a site that discusses a lot of Christian faiths without being antagonistic between them. I'm also looking at how to integrate this site with Wiki editable areas. Right now there is a discussion link over a page on Chat11 to act as a discussion hub, but this really simplistic, I'm almost embarrassed. I want something much more rich. I am hoping to take this concept of interlinking a static presentation of Christian information with wiki type discussion of the Bible, sermons, theology, etc. I hope that anyone from here with an interest in this will come and join me at Chat11.

BTW, my interest is very much in the idea of the wiki software itself, as much as it is in creating the content. I have a whole collection of wiki softwares from various projects, and am itching for the excuse to write a new wiki. Of course along with a decision like that comes all the agonies: what language to write it in, what servers to host it on, even what to name it. For years I've fascinated by the .NET hosting platform, and most recently I examined FlexWiki?Create, a wiki written for .NET hosting on windows servers, but found some things that I consider to be fatal flaws in it. I've been thinking for several years about how to deal with balancing the "everybody can edit" model of wiki with the "want to control certain parts of my content" point of view of most authors.

This whole issue becomes especially relevant for projects like one that I want to do soon: A completely editable wiki version of the Bible, vs. one where the Bible text is preserved, but anyone can edit the commentary attached to each chapter or verse. I also want to encourage people to find sermons around the net regarding various verses in the Bible, and link those verses to the sermons. Kind of like our own Wiki'd center-margin notes.
