Asbestos is found in the building materials of many older buildings. It was used as an insulator, and also as padding.
What can be done about an old build that has asbestos containing materials. Contrary to popular opinion, "asbestos containing material" (ACM) in a building does not automatically make the occupants at risk. The first step before removing asbestos should be a survey of the premisis to determine how much of a problem there is. There are many legal and cost-effective options other than removal.
A survey of the building can look at every aspect of the building and it's materials, or a more sensible and cost effective approach to asbestos mitigation may involve simply investigating the exposed hazardous materials.
